  • 🌱♥️🎗️After Being Told to Go Home and Die, She Lived Another 40 Years - An angioplasty and triple bypass surgery had failed to heal Evelyn Oswick’s troubled heart. Oswick suffered two heart attacks in her fifties and when her heart disease returned after her multiple operations, her doctor told her there was nothing more he could do for her and that she should “go home and wait to die.” But Dr. Esselsytn visited Oswick in her hospital room and told her she'd be a great candidate for his trials using a whole foods plant-based diet to heal patients with heart disease. Oswick eventually got on board deciding she wasn't ready to die. She healed her heart on her new diet and went on to live more than 30 years working for her community, spending time with her family, and sharing her healing story to help inspire others seeking a natural and effective cure for #heartdisease 🌱♥️🎗️ .

  • Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, former Heart Surgeon, Cleveland Clinic, and heart doctor for 30+ years says that a whole food plant based diet is the safest most effective way to cure heart disease. He says, “Although it is uncertain to what extent people will adopt the advice because of habit, custom, and different tastes and textures of foods, it is nevertheless scientifically and ethically imperative to inform the public what constitutes an optimal diet. We must tell the public the truth about what is best for their health and let them decide their degree of compliance. The optimal diet consists of grains, legumes, vegetables, and fruit, with 10% of its calories coming from fat.” Now there's a doctor with your heart at #heart. 🌱♥️🎗️#gooddoctor .

  • 🌱♥️🎗️When Dr. Rajiv Misquitta experienced his first heart attack he had just turned forty and said his life was going extremely well. His medical practice was thriving, he had two young sons, and he had just been elected to the board of a prestigious national group of physicians. But despite being a doctor charged with helping other people achieve wellness Dr. Misquitta says that, “Nutrition and lifestyle were not really on my radar.”“ Fortunately, Misquitta discovered the peer reviewed research, published by Drs. Dean Ornish and Caldwell Esselstyn which showed how lifestyle changes could prevent and reverse heart disease. He began eating a whole food plant-based diet, became trained as a yoga teacher, and took other steps to reduce stress in his life. The changes worked. He lost 25 pounds and says he never felt better. Dr. Misquitta has now written a book about his diet with his wife and also spearheaded new holistic healing programs at Kaiser Permanente. Read more of the story and Dr. Misquitta's new outlook on life at: http://healingwithplants.us/2018/02/dr-rajiv-misquitta-healed-his-heart-with-a-vegan-diet/ or click link in Bio and then "Healing" for more stories like this one.

  • Ken Stone had shown no signs of heart disease before his heart attack at age 53.  Stone was on a camping and fishing trip with his son when the heart attack occurred and after driving to one hospital and being flown by helicopter to another, doctors put three stents in his arteries in an effort to save his life. He was told he needed quadruple bypass surgery as soon as possible. A year before his heart attack Stone says a doctor friend had told him about Dr. Esselstyn’s book Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease.  Stone’s father and grandfather had died from heart disease — his grandfather died at 78-years-old of a heart attack and his father died at age 68 while undergoing open heart surgery. His father had been on Crestor since age 40. Stone’s doctor friend, who is a cardiovascular surgeon, sent him the film Forks Over Knives when he learned of his heart disease diagnosis. The doctor encouraged Stone to try a whole foods plant-based lifestyle. Stone gave the diet a try and immediately began shedding extra pounds and healing his heart. His cardiologist declared he had "rock star" bloodwork after just a few months on his new diet. • When Anthony Yen was diagnosed with Heart Disease, he went back to the diet of his Chinese parents to save his heart. Yen came to the United States in 1949 and began to eat the way Americans eat. Yen was a businessman who owned several oversees manufacturing plants and he ate a diet typical of other businessmen. Yen enjoyed fatty foods like fried chicken, pork chops, roast beef, and chocolate mouse. The fat-rich diet caught up to him in his 50s when he experienced chest tightening and unusual sweating while dancing with his wife on New Year’s Eve. After learning he had experienced Angina and that the arteries to his heart where blocked, he had open heart surgery. Still, Yen recognized the surgery was a temporary solution and he sought Dr. Esselstyn’s experimental dietary approach. Yen was one of Dr. Esselstyn’s original patients who cured his heart disease by adopting a whole food plant based diet. This was essentially the diet of Yen’s Chinese parents who lived to be 95 and 98 years old with healthy hearts. After switching to a plant-based diet, Yen said that at age 73 he had the blood pressure of an athlete. Yen said, “I feel rejuvenated.” Find more of the story at www.HealingWithPlants.us (link in bio) along with other inspiring testimonies for the amazing #healing power of plants! 🌱♥️🎗️#goodnews #hearthealthy #heartmonth #plantsoverpills

  • Adam Blaney was just 26-years-old in 2009 when chest pains landed him in the emergency room one night. Blaney was diagnosed with high blood pressure and later acid reflux. At the time he exercised four times a week and his sodium levels were low so the high-blood pressure confused him and his doctor. At 27-years-old Blaney was on blood pressure medication and overweight. In 2011 he says he weighed of 200 pounds when he began watching documentaries on the food system. When he found the documentary Forks Over Knives he says he was motivated to do something.
♥️
“I bought Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease by Dr. Esselstyn the next day.”
♥️ Blaney decided to give the diet prescription recommended by Dr. Eselsytn a try. At the time Blaney says he weighted 196 lbs with a resting blood pressure of 132/89 on the medication. Just six weeks after going on the whole food plant based diet Blaney wrote,
♥️
"I have lost 30 lbs. and my blood pressure is 116/66 without medications. The acid reflux has disappeared and I feel great."
♥️
At the time Blaney was 29-years old and a minister living in Lewisburg, WV. Blaney shared his story hoping to inspire others to find the simple solution for healing heart disease. 🌱♥️🎗️🌈 #HealingWithPlants

  • Science Says Fatty Foods Cause Heart Disease - Heart Disease is the leading cause of preventable disease today -  one out of every three deaths globally according to the World Health Organization (WHO). The medical community has long established the connection between a high-fat diet and the development of heart disease.
♥️ In 1980 a study was published in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association where 24 people ate the high-fat Atkins diet for 12 weeks and at the end blood fat levels (free fatty acids) had nearly doubled. Elevated free fatty acids are associated with the development of heart disease which can lead to cardiac arrest—that moment when a heart ceases to beat for completely preventable reasons.
♥️ Countries who consume more of their calories from plants have lower incidence of heart disease. Countries who consume more of their calories from meat, eggs, dairy and high-fat processed foods greater incidence of heart disease....
♥️ Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn from the Cleveland Clinic has demonstrated with numerous patients that heart disease can be reversed and health restored by switching to a low-fat whole foods plant-based diet. #goodnews

  • Two gorillas offer perspective about the easy natural cure for heart disease. In 2008 two Western lowland gorillas, Mokolo and Bebec, were in captivity at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo and didn’t seem to be doing well. Bebac was 24 years old and Mokolo was 21—both still young considering gorillas can live up to 54 years in captivity. Despite their youth though both males were overweight and were displaying behaviors not typical of gorillas in the wild. The two had developed a habit of pulling out and eating their hair and also vomiting and then reingesting their food. When the zoo performed a cardiac ultrasound on Bebac and Mokolo they discovered both males suffered from heart disease. Heart disease is the most common killer in humans today but is unknown in populations of wild gorillas. According to Animal Planet, for gorillas held in zoos though, heart disease is the leading cause of death. Bebac and Mokolo’s diagnosis prompted a closer look at their diet. The Cleveland Zoo fed the gorillas something called “nutritional cookies”—and they certainly did not grow on trees. While wild gorillas dine on copious amounts of fresh leaves and plant parts, zoo gorillas were eating processed foods made in human factories. These cookies were full of processed starch and sugar and were calorie-dense, just like the processed foods making people sick today. In an attempt to save the gorillas lives the zoo switched them to a diet that more closely resembled what wild gorillas eat. The zoo ditched the calorically-dense processed cookies and instead gave the gorillas wheelbarrows of lettuce, endive, dandelion, and green beans—10 pounds of veggies each every day. Fruits and flaxseeds were also scattered about their enclosure so that they ended up spending 75% of their day foraging. According to the story reported by ScienceDaily the gorillas took in twice as many calories on their new diet but after a year they made a dramatic recovery. Both Bebac and Mokolo lost 65 pounds each, stopped vomiting and reingesting their food, and improved the health of their hearts. 🌱♥️🎗️ #HealingWithPlants #hearthealth #vegan #wfpb
  • Putting Heart ♥️🎗️Disease Out of Business:
Heart Disease is the biggest killer today responsible for one out of every four deaths in the United States and nearly one out of every three deaths globally according to the World Health Organization (WHO). WHO’s estimates that 17.7 million people die of heart disease every year on our small planet. Thankfully this is a disease that need never exist. Doctors like Caldwell Esselstyn have helped shed light on the simple easy nutritional cure that works every time. A diet high in whole plant foods has been shown again and again to both prevent heart disease from occurring and to stop it in its tracks and heal an unhealthy heart.  The diet-cure for heart disease is endorsed by Dr. Kim Williams, president of the American College of Cardiology who says he became vegan after doing the research. Now a plant-based diet is his number one prescription for reversing and preventing heart disease. In an interview with the New York Times Dr. Williams says his own experience with diet and reviewing the best science available led him to recommend plants to his patients. He says, “I recommend a plant-based diet because I know it’s going to lower their blood pressure, improve their insulin sensitivity and decrease their cholesterol.” February is Heart Health Month in America and is the perfect time to pick back up publishing at Healing With Plants to continue to spread the good news about the amazing healing power of plants! • In an interview with PlantShift, 41-year-old Chris describes himself as a "true omnivore" before discovering he had type 2 Diabetes. The initial response of his doctor upon diagnosis was to put him on a prescription medication that left Chris feeling lethargic and bloated. He says that initially he was sent to a dietitian to learn the "do's and don'ts" of sugar, but he describes this as text-book basic and boring. He says there was no mention of the plant-based diet solution to healing. Chris chose to research further on his own the reason why people develop diabetes and how some people used diet to send it into remission. He says, "I adopted a plant-based diet and after a few months of self-testing, I noticed that my sugar and cholesterol levels began to come down.  Moderate exercise and eating plant-based foods were the key to me coming off all the medication that I had been prescribed. This happened within six months. I was also feeling much more healthier than I was before and I looked better for it." Three years after his diagnosis, Chris maintains checkups every six-months and swears by his new vegan diet. He says, "I fell in love with cooking healthy, nutritious plant-based foods that have real colour, flavour and diversity and I endeavour to prove that a Vegan diet doesn't limit choice - it's an enlightened one. #anothersuccess 🌱💪 #originallifesaverdiet 🌿🍉🥑🌶️🥒🎗️🍍 #thisdietcuresdisease 🌈 #diabetesawareness 🌱🎗️🍇🙌 #HealingWithPlants 🍋🍒🥕🍑🍐🍎

  • Dr. Kirt Tyson thought he lived a healthy life and was not overweight when he was shocked with illness and a diagnoses of Diabetes/ “I was hospitalized with glucose levels of 1,200. I had lost 20 lbs in about a week. I started losing my vision and I was at stage II kidney damage. I was hospitalized for about four days.” His doctor told him he should have died with that reading. Kirt then stumbled upon an advertisement seeking people diagnosed with diabetes for a documentary on healing with raw foods. He signed up right away and two weeks later he flew to Arizona to participate in a 30-day raw cleanse consisting of raw vegetables, nuts, seeds and no fruit. He says he stopped taking insulin just a few days after he started the new diet and he experienced a dramatic and swift improvement in his blood sugar levels. While following the American Diabetes Association Diet his blood sugar levels were averaging 500 but on the new diet his blood sugar read 150. After the initial month he stuck with the 100% raw diet for another 2 months and when he returned to the doctor for bloodwork the nurse said, “Your blood work is beautiful. I see the insulin is working well for you." Kirt told her he had stopped insulin and said the nurse was baffled saying they were going to put him on an insulin pump for Type 1 Diabetes. The realization that allopathic medicine did not hold the answers for healing caused Kirt to make a career change. He was pursuing a career in mainstream allopathic medicine but he changed course to become a naturopath. He says, “The body is capable of healing itself, but you have to give it the nutrition that it needs and that it's looking for. On this raw food diet you are able to accomplish that.” #Amazing 🌱🎗️🌿🥕🥒💪🌈#Healed #Diabetes #Naturally

  • Betsy Hatcher started to gain extra weight in her early 20s beginning what she says were 33 years of fad dieting. From cabbage soup to celery, Betsy had tried everything but admits that all these diets amounted to some version of starving herself. Despite the diets, Betsy eventually found herself overweight and diagnosed with high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and Type 2 diabetes. She tried the medical establishment-recommended heart-healthy diet and the diabetes diet and had little success. Then she found the documentary Forks Over Knives which she says was, “like seeing a long lost friend and being wrapped in a great, big hug—it was familiar, hopeful, and long overdue." She switched to a whole foods plant-based diet and things immediately began to improve. She says, “Within six weeks of going plant-based, I lost 15 pounds and went down two dress sizes. The best news? My blood glucose went from 382 to 100 and my A1C went from 15.6 to 5.9. (The A1C test is a 3-month average of blood sugar levels; the current A1C range for a non-diabetic is between 4 and 5.7.) In six weeks!” Wow, what an amazing story of discovery, change, and empowerment!!! Thanks Betsy for sharing your story to help others discover the amazing healing power of plants! 🌱🎗️🌈🍒🍌🍑🍅🌿🍓🍏🍊🥕🍉🍍🤸🌿💪 #anothersuccess #HealingWithPlants .
