Grape icee is a delicious and nutritious treat that’s perfect for cooling off on a hot summer day. This recipe is a 100% whole plants version of your childhood favorite. All you need is one ingredient – fresh organic grapes.
When grapes are in season select a nice looking bunch. Red, green, or purple grapes all work fine. You can experiment with what flavor you like.
Remove fruits from the stem and rinse in a strainer in the sink. Freeze the grapes in whatever container works from you.
Plastic tupperware or a regular bowl works fine. Once your grapes are rinsed and have their stems removed they are ready for the freezer.
We froze our grapes in a tortilla warmer container because the shape works nicely for fitting the perfect amount of frozen grapes into our freezer.
Once the grapes are frozen, remove them from the freezer and insert them into your blender. Press go and watch the mixing magic take place. You might need to open the blender and push the grapes down into the blades a couple times to achieve an even blend. If you want more of a slushy smoothie you could add a small amount of water to the blender. These grape icees we made with 100% grapes and zero water to achieve this snow-cone like consistency.
The 100% grapes icee is perfectly sweet with a pleasant velvety texture. This nutrient-rich, hydrating, healthy frozen beverage is 100% whole food plant-based and is palate-pleasing for adults and kids alike. Enjoy!
