NEWS [Orange County, CA June 21, 2020] Healing With Plants is announcing the release of its first recipe book, The Frugivore Diet by holistic nutrition educator and writer Reya Steele. The 146-page book introduces the Frugivore Diet, a name Steele gives to a modern take on the natural human diet, or the diet we are biologically suited for. According to Steele,

“The Frugivore Diet is both a diet book and recipe book in one with a goal to support people who want ideas for incorporating more nutrient-rich whole plant foods into their diet.”

While the ebook became available weeks prior, the paperback went live on Midsommar 2020 (June 21, the summer solstice) and is available from online book retailers including Barnes and Noble and Amazon. The Frugivore Diet offers an overview of what Steele refers to as a science-backed case for ideal human nutrition. She says,

“The premise of the Frugivore Diet is that by eating according to our biology, one can maintain their ideal weight effortlessly while avoiding (or reversing) many of today’s most common chronic diseases. The Frugivore Diet is meant to be a useful tool for anyone seeking to lose weight, heal chronic disease, or maintain a high level of everyday wellness.”

Holistic nutrition and health educator Reya Steele publishes the website HealingWithPlants.us and has just released her first recipe book featuring 133 100% recipes that are dairy-free, oil-free, vegan, and made from nutrient-dense whole plant foods.

The book includes a collection of 133 meals centered on whole plant foods. The recipes are dairy-free, oil-free, vegan, and are in alignment with a whole-food, plant-based diet. While Steele does not exclude wheat from the diet, the meals she shares are centered around fruits and veggies and all but a few recipes are gluten free. The recipes include fruit-based breakfasts, a variety of salads, a large selection of soups, sauces, side dishes, “bountiful bowl” meals, healthy desserts, and drinks. Steele says,

“The recipes work with your frugivore physiology to give you more energy, protect you against today’s most common diseases, and help you maintain wellness throughout your life.”

The Frugivore Diet features a 27-page introduction to the diet including nutrition guidance, guidelines and tips for success, sample meal plan, and shopping list. According to Amanda Malachesky, Functional Nutrition Practitioner, who reviewed an early copy of the book,

“Even if you’re not vegan, this new cookbook is full of delicious, easy, and colorful recipes to help you eat more plants. As a nutrition professional, I’m acutely aware of the importance and value of a diet rich in whole-food, plant foods. Reya has compiled a mouth-watering buffet of re-imagined classics, and creative new food experiments, and I know that you’ll find many enticing options to expand your kitchen in The Frugivore Diet.”
